Dandelion Daze

Darling, you're an old oak tree and I am a little grey bird I'll sing for you ceaselessly until the sultry summer turns Dahlias deliver a divine deluge of dopamine Daylilies delight in the delusion of our droll daydreams Daffodils descend from our diaphanous debauchery Dandelions dangle from our delicate dichotomy Days go by We death defy In the summertime we shine Like dragonflies Days go by We dare deny In the summertime we shine Like dying fire Spiders spin their spiral in the shadows of our parting words Salamanders scramble in the skeleton that once was her Darling, I'm an old oak tree and you are a little grey bird

We don't get no wind down here. The heat coils up like rattlesnakes. We don't get no rain round here. The creek's been dry for days. Blasting down from burning skies, the sunshine is like spears. It gets so hot the treetops sigh and the hobos shave their beards for the first time in years. In the summertime...

Stole a thimbleful of mothwing dust and sprinkled it into my green tea cup. Took a sip and watched the stars fall down, tuned into the frequency of the cicadas' hum. Big fat mama junebug buzzing circles, bury all your babies in the ground. Stole my stoicism from a turtle. Climbed a tree and watched the sun fall down. Daisy, raise your lark-like eyes from starlight to the sea. Daisy, if you wait for me, I'll grow a beard of stars for thee. Summertime to sit beneath the trees. Whip-poor-wills and fireflies are free. Tuned into the psychedelic moon, hypnotized by the vibration of the galaxy. Daisy, I've got honeysuckles tangled in my teeth. Daisy, I've got dandelions growing in between my toes for thee.

On the Road 04:39
Well I went to San Francisco with a dollar in my pocket to jaywalk the mythological Pacific Coast Highway And then I headed down to Reno with a sonnet in my wallet just in case I found a pretty face I met along the way and I said... Well I went down to New Orleans with a polyp in my conscience to alleviate the frequency of such sad suffering And then I went to NYC with a logic so flawless that I learned from wild-eyed winos on the riverbanks of Spain and I said... When the seasons turn We got love to burn When your heart gets spurned You know the tide will turn Well I went down to old Mexico to frolic with a goddess and investigate the destiny that's running through my blood Then I went back to Oklahoma with a monolithic knowledge so I balled up like a mollusk underneath some maple shade, and I said...

The pit viper pulverizes bloodlines with poison bites and he don't mind. The pit viper vaporizes lifelines with venom strikes and he doesn't mind... behind the treeline, the tall, tall pines tranquilize. She waves goodbye under the porch light. It's a long, long drive back to the shoreline. The pit viper slithers throught the pipevine to victimize the tongue-tied. The pit viper pile drives his teeth deep into the thigh of my young bride... as she starts to die, her grey, grey eyes slowly go blind. Her spirit flies into the night sky. The snakebite shines in the moonlight.

Gettin' bitten by a lizard ain't bad. But gettin' bitten by a spittin' cobra's just the opposite. Your nervous system shuts down and you're foaming at the mouth and thrashing on the ground calling out for a paramedic. Gettin' bitten by a pigeon ain't bad. But gettin' bitten by a big chicken's a bit ironic. Well you're a friendly little hen, I'll never eat chicken again. Cause I'm a chicken too and that would be a bit cannibalistic. Baby, let me put a bandage on that bite, lay you down and kiss you goodnight. Gettin' bitten by a kitten ain't bad. But gettin' bitten by a cricket's worth it if you think about it, cause it don't hurt very bad and you would be so very sad if there were no crickets around to sing their lovely summer night music.

Let your little leaves grow out into the light Let your little seeds show up towards the sky Let your little stems provide everything on earth with life OM
8.
9.
In the autumn when the garden sends its wisdom down so sleep beneath the soil, I will think of you sleeping. In the autumn when the ocean breathes its gloomy grey breath through these city streets, I will think of you breathing. In the autumn when the oak tree sends its dead leaves dancing on the cold cold breeze, I will think of you dancing. In the autumn when the blackbird sits unblinking in the austere old pine tree, I will think of you pining. When the autumn comes, I'll never ever stop thinking of you, my friend.

I've been waiting for this evening for such a long, long time. I can hear mosquitos breathing it's such a quiet night. I have reached epiphany beneath this serene oak tree. I can hear amoebas trembling ancient energy. Primavera tea When the crows of autumn fly in the violet twilight, look out your window, pretend they're big black butterflies. When the goldenrods go blind, and the pipevine flatlines, remember that I am thinking of you all the time. Primavera tea I've been waiting for this evening for such a long, long time. I can hear the songbirds tweeting, it's such a fleeting life...
